Spe­cial Ex­hibits, Ac­tiv­i­ties Slated At Crocker Mu­seum

A spe­cial ex­hibit, some on­go­ing and up­com­ing pro­grams are be­ing fea­tured at the Crocker Art Mu­seum, 216 O St., down­town Sacra­mento. Mu­seum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tues­day through Sun­day, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thurs­days. Amer­i­can River Col­lege’s Fine Art Club on View runs Oct. 5 through Jan. 7, 2018. View a va­ri­ety of work cre­ated by Amer­i­can River Col­lege’s Fine Art Club. Re­cep­tion is sched­uled for Sun­day, Oct. 15, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Also fea­tured: Art Spots – Art in­stal­la­tions de­signed for chil­dren 5 and un­der and their grownups are sprout­ing up in var­i­ous Mu­seum spa­ces. These en­gag­ing, tot-friendly in­stal­la­tions are part of an ex­per­i­men­tal project funded by First 5 Sacra­mento and the In­sti­tute of Mu­seum and Li­brary Ser­vices.

“Tot Land” – On­go­ing; in­spired by the Mu­seum’s own Spirit Ca­noe, an all-new Tot Land in­stal­la­tion of­fers a world of ex­plo­ration for chil­dren from in­fancy to age 5 and their care­givers. Chil­dren will be swept up in their own play­ful ideas as they climb inside a boat, us­ing their imag­i­na­tion to trans­form into hu­man and an­i­mal char­ac­ters as they in­ter­act with one an­other. “Wingding” – Runs Nov. 19 through March 4, 2018. “Wingding” is a fes­tive, three­d­i­men­sional art ex­pe­ri­ence de­signed for young chil­dren and their care­givers and/or fam­i­lies. This in­stal­la­tion of­fers op­por­tu­ni­ties to in­ter­act with, and learn about, the ba­sic el­e­ments of art through play, ex­per­i­men­ta­tion, and cre­ative col­lab­o­ra­tion.
