With October quickly com­ing to a close, the lo­cal Community Hos­pice is gear­ing up for some hol­i­day events.

Cop­ing With The Hol­i­days Work­shop

Mon­day, Nov. 13, 6:30 p.m.

Community Hos­pice is host­ing a free community work­shop – Cop­ing with the Hol­i­days – to ex­plore ways to han­dle grief and honor your loved one’s legacy. Fea­tured speaker, au­thor Stacey Can­field, will share in­for­ma­tion about the pos­i­tive grief process, ways to cope with loss through the hol­i­day sea­son and pay trib­ute to your loved one. The pro­gram will close with re­flec­tion and a heal­ing can­dle light­ing cer­e­mony. You are wel­come to bring a framed pic­ture of your love one or spe­cial me­mento to be placed on our re­mem­brance ta­ble. This work­shop is de­signed for the whole fam­ily. A youth pre­sen­ta­tion on re­mem­ber­ing and hon­or­ing your loved one will be given by our Child Grief Sup­port Spe­cial­ists. Light Up A Life Hol­i­day Tree Light­ing – Modesto

Memo­rial Med­i­cal Cen­ter, 1700 Cof­fee Road, Modesto

The An­nual Light Up a Life hol­i­day tree light­ing at Memo­rial Med­i­cal Cen­ter will take place on Sun­day, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. The big ev­er­green tree, at the cor­ner of Cof­fee Road and Brig­gsmore Av­enue in Modesto, is lit to honor, cel­e­brate and re­mem­ber loved ones. Sym­bolic lights and or­na­ments are avail­able for a nom­i­nal do­na­tion. Im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing the cer­e­mony, re­fresh­ments will be avail­able at a free community re­cep­tion. If you are in­ter­ested in pur­chas­ing a sym­bolic light or or­na­ment, please call the Community Hos­pice Foun­da­tion at (209) 578-6370. Event is free to at­tend and open to the community.

Community Hos­pice is the largest and old­est non­profit hos­pice agency in the Cen­tral Val­ley. Serv­ing the community since 1979, Community Hos­pice has cared for thou­sands of friends and neigh­bors of­fer­ing com­pas­sion­ate and qual­ity care, ed­u­ca­tion and sup­port to ter­mi­nally ill pa­tients and fam­i­lies, re­gard­less of abil­ity to pay. Care ex­tends to over 2000 pa­tients each year in pri­vate homes, skilled nurs­ing fa­cil­i­ties, re­tire­ment com­mu­ni­ties and at the 16-bed in­pa­tient Community Hos­pice Alexan­der Co­hen Hos­pice House.
