Vol­ley­ball Girls Dig Out Pair Of Wins

Oak­dale’s var­sity vol­ley­ball girls are one step closer to win­ing their fourth straight Val­ley Oak League cham­pi­onship.

This past week the var­sity Lady Mus­tangs won a pair of league games on the road. The team de­feated East Union 3-0 and then earned a vic­tory over We­ston Ranch 3-1. The two wins ex­tended the team’s win­ning streak to 10 straight VOL vic­to­ries.

On Mon­day, Oct. 16 the girls han­dled East Union in three sets, and on Wed­nes­day, Oct. 18 the girls showed their re­silience. Oak­dale dropped the first set to the We­ston Ranch Cougars 2025. Oak­dale bounced back with a dom­i­nant sec­ond set to win 25-12. The third set went to ex­tras as Oak­dale es­caped with a 26-24 vic­tory. The three-time de­fend­ing league cham­pi­ons closed out the match with a 25-22 dra­matic win. No stats were pro­vided for the road trip.

On Mon­day, Oct. 23 the team hon­ored its 10 se­niors for Se­nior Night 2017. The cer­e­mony took place prior to their show­down against Cen­tral Catholic. The game took place fol­low­ing The Leader’s press time. Oak­dale wraps up the reg­u­lar sea­son at Lathrop on Wed­nes­day, Oct. 25 with the game set to be­gin at 7 p.m.

Play­offs brack­ets for vol­ley­ball have yet to be de­ter­mined.

The ju­nior var­sity and fresh­man teams will also be in ac­tion this week. Both teams hosted Cen­tral Catholic on Mon­day, Oct. 23 and are go­ing to wrap up their sea­sons on the road at Lathrop on Wed­nes­day, Oct. 25. Fresh­men take the court at 4 p.m. and the ju­nior var­sity game is sched­uled for 5 p.m.
