Girls Ten­nis Bat­tles To 7-7 VOL Mark

The reg­u­lar sea­son came to a close for the Oak­dale girls ten­nis team this past week. The girls dropped both of their road con­tests to end the sea­son with a record of 7-7 in the Val­ley Oak League. Oak­dale fell to Sierra and Man­teca to end the sea­son on a three-game los­ing streak.

On Tues­day, Oct 17 the girls trav­eled to Man­teca to take on the Sierra Tim­ber­wolves. Sierra clawed their way through Oak­dale 6-3 to com­plete the sea­son sweep of the Lady Mustang ten­nis team. Ken­dra Branch was Oak­dale’s lone sin­gles win­ner in the road con­test. Branch de­feated Joyce Se­bas­tian 5-7, 7-5, 10-5. In dou­bles ac­tion Shan­nen Yang and Cailie Rari­den won in straight sets for Oak­dale 6-1, 6-3. The team of Angie Low­ery and Alyossa Jingco were also vic­to­ri­ous in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

On Thurs­day af­ter­noon, Oak­dale made the trip back to Man­teca to face off against the Buf­faloes where Oak­dale fell 9-0. Oak­dale’s sea­son be­gan on a promis­ing note as the girls started the year off win­ning four straight matches.

The post­sea­son be­gan on Tues­day, Oct. 24 when the girls hosted the 2017 Val­ley Oak League Sin­gles Tour­na­ment. The Tour­na­ment was held fol­low­ing The Leader press time.

On Thurs­day, Oct. 26 Oak­dale will be the host school for the 2017 Val­ley Oak League Dou­bles Tour­na­ment. The tour­na­ment is sched­uled for 9 a.m.

Play­offs be­gin Mon­day, Oct. 30.
