ROBERT M. “BOB” YOUNG
Robert M. “Bob” Young passed away in Oakdale, California on Wednesday, July 18th just after his 79th birthday. Bob lived in Oakdale and served the community as a State Farm Insurance Agent for 34 years. Bob was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who took great pride in his work, as well as, his family. He is survived by his wife Jane Young; his brother, Lee Hayes of Washington; his sister, Joyce Brown of Alaska; his children, Lucky (Roy Ann) Young, Donnie (Diane) Young, Michele (Craig) Alford, and Taylor (Emily) Webster; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Bob, otherwise known as “Papa” to his family, will be missed tremendously.
Services will be held at Oakdale Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 28th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Optimal Hospice Care of Modesto or the Alzheimer’s Association of Modesto.

Craig Anthony Gladen, 76, passed away Saturday, July 7th in Sacramento. He was born November 2, 1941 to Alice Skelton Gladen and Dr. Ralph Gladen in Los Angeles. Craig graduated from Thomas Downey High School, in Modesto, Stanford University, where he studied German language and literature, and the Thunderbird School in Glendale, Arizona.
Craig was known for his sense of humor and huge laugh as well as his keen mind, passion and tenacity. He worked as a bank officer for many years in Europe and the United States, but later became a founding owner of the rice processing and storage company Great Western Growers.
Craig had a passion for flamenco guitar music and studied and played throughout his life. A lover of the outdoors, he was also a sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fly fishing. Craig had over 40 years of service in AA, working with others to save their lives and find themselves and sobriety.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Judy Gladen. He is survived by his childhood friend and loving wife, Judi Gladen, his children, Anne, Cynthia, and Calvin, and grandchildren, Noah, Luke and Nate Gladen-Kolarsky, and Nora and Gabriel Sweeney-Gladen.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27th at Franklin and Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Ave., in Modesto, with interment at 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., in Hughson.
