Friends Of Cham­ber Mu­sic Con­cert Hosts Parker Quar­tet

With beau­ti­ful tone color and thought­ful ac­cu­racy to their per­for­mance, the Parker Quar­tet will ful­fill your ex­pec­ta­tion with a re­mark­able con­cert in their up­com­ing per­for­mance on Sun­day, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m. in Faye Spanos Con­cert Hall on the Univer­sity of the Pa­cific cam­pus.

Tick­ets are $25 and are avail­able in the lobby of Faye Spanos Con­cert Hall at UOP start­ing at 2 p.m., 30 min­utes be­fore the con­cert. Stu­dents of any age are ad­mit­ted free.

Hailed by The New York Times as “some­thing ex­tra­or­di­nary” and by the Bos­ton Globe for their “vir­tu­osic, ut­terly as­sured ... as­sid­u­ously cul­ti­vated blend of sound,” the Grammy Award­win­ning Parker Quar­tet has distin­guished it­self as one of the pre­em­i­nent en­sem­bles of its gen­er­a­tion.

Per­form­ing to­gether since 2002, the Parker Quar­tet trained at the New Eng­land Con­ser­va­tory of Mu­sic and is one of the best cham­ber mu­sic quar­tets per­form­ing to­day. Daniel Chong, vi­olin; Ying Xue, vi­olin; Jes­sica Bod­ner, vi­ola; and Kee-Hyun Kim, cello, are cur­rently based in Bos­ton. Pre­vi­ously they have held teach­ing and per­for­mance res­i­den­cies at the Univer­sity of South Carolina and the Univer­sity of St. Thomas. From 2008 to 2013, the quar­tet spent much of its time in St. Paul, Min­nesota, where they served as Quar­tet-in-Res­i­dence with the St. Paul Cham­ber Orches­tra (2008-2010) and were the first-ever Artists-in-Res­i­dence with Min­nesota Pub­lic Ra­dio (2009-2010). The Parker Quar­tet be­gan their res­i­dency at Har­vard in the fall of 2014.

With an in­ter­na­tional rep­u­ta­tion, the Parker Quar­tet be­gan tour­ing af­ter win­ning the Con­cert Artists Guild Com­pe­ti­tion as well as the Grand Prix and Mozart Prize at the Bordeaux In­ter­na­tional String Quar­tet Com­pe­ti­tion in France. Cham­ber Mu­sic Amer­ica awarded the quar­tet the pres­ti­gious bi­en­nial Cleve­land Quar­tet Award for the 2009- 2011 sea­sons.

The au­di­ence is in­vited to meet the mu­si­cians at a re­cep­tion fol­low­ing the con­cert.
