Li­brary Friends Set To Meet

The Friends of the Oak­dale Li­brary spon­sor many of the pro­grams and prizes of­fered by the lo­cal li­brary branch, in­clud­ing gift bas­kets and brand new bi­cy­cles for Sum­mer Read­ing draw­ing win­ners. The Friends con­stantly pro­mote and en­cour­age the great gift of lit­er­acy at all lev­els for ev­ery­one and will gather for their monthly meet­ing on Mon­day, Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join and more in­for­ma­tion are avail­able at the Oak­dale Li­brary, or call 209-847-4204.

A spe­cial event com­ing up later this month, the li­brary’s “Lit­tle Sci­en­tists” S.T.E.A.M. Pro­gram for ages from kin­der­garten to eight, will be on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 26, at 3:30 p.m. Lis­ten to a book then ex­plore the world of sci­ence with spe­cial ac­tiv­i­ties. Sign-ups are re­quired in ad­vance at the li­brary.

Also sched­uled this month, “Talk Like a Pi­rate Day” on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 19 with a spe­cial craft and a week-long “Polly the Par­rot Scav­enger Hunt.” The 3:30 p.m. pro­gram on Sept. 19 will in­clude the mak­ing of pi­rate maps and a hunt in the chil­dren’s li­brary for Polly the Par­rot and the miss­ing pi­rate trea­sure.

The Li­brary Book Club will be read­ing “The Sol­dier’s Wife” and then meet­ing to dis­cuss and share on Tues­day, Sept. 25, at 11:30 a.m.
