Women’s Club

Oak­dale Women’s Club will host its next Lun­cheon/ Meet­ing on Tues­day Sept. 11, 2018, from moon to 2 p.m. at the Oak­dale Golf & Coun­try Club, 243 N. Stearns Road, Oak­dale. The first Fall Lun­cheon/Meet­ing of the Oak­dale Women’s Club will have as its Guest Speaker Sue McKin­ney from Viet­nam who will speak on Hu­man Traf­fick­ing and mod­ern slav­ery. Reser­va­tions are a must, so please con­tact Karen Bara­jas at (209) 848-2231 by no later than Sept. 6 to con­firm at­ten­dance at what prom­ises to be a very in­ter­est­ing meet­ing. The pub­lic is in­vited to at­tend the pro­gram and as a spe­cial in­cen­tive to help in­crease Club mem­ber­ship, cur­rent mem­bers of the OWC who bring in the most new mem­bers for the 2018-2019 sea­son will have their mem­ber­ship dues paid for in the next year.

Gar­den­ers Gather

Oak­dale Gar­den Club (OGC) will host a BBQ Lun­cheon Meet­ing on Tues­day, Sept. 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. Oak­dale Gar­den Club’s Pres­i­dent, Judy Lit­tle, re­cently an­nounced the OGC’s first Gen­eral Meet­ing/Bar­be­cue and Swim Party of the early Fall Sea­son. The non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion, whose works have long-in­cluded many beau­ti­fi­ca­tion projects for the com­mu­nity of Oak­dale, is open to all cur­rent Club mem­bers, for­mer mem­bers and any­one in­ter­ested in know­ing more about the group. TOPS Meet­ing

All are in­vited to the weekly meet­ings of TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sen­si­bly, 1034 that gath­ers each Mon­day from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1480 Po­plar Ave., Oak­dale. The group fea­tures help with weight loss in a sup­port­ive set­ting. Res­i­dents of Oak­dale, River­bank, Escalon and beyond are wel­come to at­tend. Film So­ci­ety Movie

The Modesto Film So­ci­ety inau­gu­rates this year’s Modesto Ar­chi­tec­ture and De­sign (MAD) week cel­e­bra­tion with a screen­ing of Al­fred Hitch­cock’s clas­sic North By North­west, show­ing on Sun­day, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m., at Modesto’s his­toric State Theatre. Fi­nal Del­i­cato Mar­ket

Del­i­cato Fam­ily Vine­yards, 12001 S. High­way 99, four miles north of Man­teca, will host its fi­nal Sum­mer Ar­ti­san Mar­ket on Satur­day, Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stay cool in­side, sip wine and shop, with lo­cal food prod­ucts, jew­elry, wear­ables, hand­crafted items and more be­ing of­fered. The pub­lic is en­cour­aged to sip the new­est wine re­leases cho­sen from the cur­rent tast­ing menu while shop­ping the dis­plays. The wine tast­ing fee is $5 (waived for Del­i­cato Wine Club Mem­bers) and there is no en­try fee to browse the Ar­ti­san Mar­ket. Also avail­able for pur­chase will be per­sonal piz­zas baked on­site by the Rock Pizza Oven.
