Awards Cer­e­mony Hon­ors Com­mu­nity Phi­lan­thropists

Na­tional Phi­lan­thropy Day is a na­tional day of cel­e­bra­tion, cre­ated to rec­og­nize and pay trib­ute to the con­tri­bu­tions that phi­lan­thropy, and phi­lan­thropists, have made to the com­mu­nity.

The As­so­ci­a­tion of Fundrais­ing Pro­fes­sion­als (AFP) - Yosemite Chap­ter will host the 2018 Na­tional Phi­lan­thropy Day Awards Lun­cheon in early Novem­ber.

The 2018 Na­tional Phi­lan­thropy Day Award Re­cip­i­ents in­clude: Out­stand­ing Phi­lan­thropist – The Bruno Fam­ily; Out­stand­ing Vol­un­teer Fundraiser – Jan­ice Lucero, Com­mu­nity Hospice; Out­stand­ing Youth Phi­lan­thropist – Erin Ben­ning, Stu­dent; Out­stand­ing Fundrais­ing Pro­fes­sional – Kathy Hobby, Stanis­laus County Of­fice of Ed­u­ca­tion; Out­stand­ing Cor­po­rate Donor – Modesto Toyota; Out­stand­ing Phil­an­thropic Foun­da­tion, Ser­vice Or­ga­ni­za­tion or Non­profit – Modesto Sun­rise Ro­tary Club; and Life­time Achieve­ment – Jac­que­line Foret.

This year’s awards cer­e­mony is sched­uled for Thurs­day, Nov. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Gallo Cen­ter for the Arts, Modesto.

Com­mit­tee Co-Chair Rochele Roura-Fos­ter said, “We take the time to honor those who be­lieve in a bet­ter com­mu­nity by par­tic­i­pat­ing through phi­lan­thropy, vol­un­teerism or, sim­ply, acts of kind­ness. Rec­og­niz­ing the work of phi­lan­thropists and the qual­ity of their char­ac­ter will help usher in the next gen­er­a­tion of com­pas­sion­ate peo­ple look­ing for­ward to co­op­er­a­tively im­prov­ing our com­mu­nity.”

Re­turn­ing this year is the “Cham­pion” des­ig­na­tion, which al­lows or­ga­ni­za­tions to rec­og­nize and cel­e­brate the per­son who has been in­stru­men­tal in the suc­cess of their char­i­ta­ble or­ga­ni­za­tion over the past year. All at­tend­ing non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tions are in­vited to par­tic­i­pate. Th­ese or­ga­ni­za­tions can choose to honor a star vol­un­teer, de­voted mem­ber, ma­jor fi­nan­cial sup­porter, or out­stand­ing staff mem­ber. The des­ig­nated “Cham­pi­ons” will be rec­og­nized at the Na­tional Phi­lan­thropy Day Lun­cheon. The As­so­ci­a­tion of Fundrais­ing Pro­fes­sion­als (AFP) rep­re­sents more than 30,000 fundrais­ers in 197 chap­ters through­out the world, work­ing to ad­vance phi­lan­thropy through ad­vo­cacy, re­search, ed­u­ca­tion, and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion pro­grams. The As­so­ci­a­tion fos­ters de­vel­op­ment and growth of fundrais­ing pro­fes­sion­als and pro­motes high eth­i­cal stan­dards in the fundrais­ing pro­fes­sion. The AFP Yosemite Chap­ter rep­re­sents char­i­ta­ble fundrais­ers in the lo­cal area.
