The Oklahoman (Sunday) - - NEWS - FROM STAFF REPORTS

A Southwestern Oklahoma State University alumnus has offered to match up to $25,000 in gifts to honor the late Robert Lee Chambers, who was an active member of the SWOSU faculty for more than 40 years. The anonymous donor pledged to match any gifts up to $25,000 to provide scholarships to jazz and trombone students at SWOSU.

Chambers, who died recently at age 65, was a 1974 and 1976 SWOSU alumnus who earned his doctorate of musical arts from the University of Oklahoma in 1986.

Garrett King, executive director of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, said the thoughtful tribute will make a tremendous impact on the lives of the university’s jazz and trombone students. Gifts may be made to the Dr. Robert Chambers Scholarship Fund by going to www. GiveToSWOSU.com or by calling 580-774-3267.
