Clean sweep needed

The Oklahoman (Sunday) - - OPINION -

“I promise to do my best to help myself and cheat the rest” seems to be the oath of office taken by our state legislators. We see scandal after scandal coming from our elected officials: misuse of campaign funds, sexual harassment, DUI, not to mention the lobbying influence. Our schools are ranked among the lowest in the country. Our roads and bridges are an embarrassment.

When David Boren was running for governor in 1974, he used a broom as a campaign slogan, meaning a clean sweep of the state government. Once again we need a clean sweep, beginning with the governor. When our Legislature is in session, it seems to be party time for the “good ol’ boys” while the state suffers from poor leadership. Our campaign slogan for next election should be “fire them all.”
