New Orleans tops Dodgers behind 9th-inning homers
Mike Aviles and Cal Towey hit back-to-back homers in the top of the ninth inning Friday night, and the New Orleans Baby Cakes beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers 11-10 in a Pacific Coast League baseball game at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Aviles’ first homer with New Orleans was a tworun shot that tied the game 10-10. Towey followed with a homer on the next pitch by reliever Madison Younginer.
Oklahoma City rallied back from a 5-0 deficit and took a 10-8 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on O’Koyea Dickson’s 19th home run of the season, a two-run shot in a pinchhitting appearance.
New Orleans (37-55) continued its success against an Oklahoma City team (49-42) that continued to fall further behind division-leading Colorado Springs. The Baby Cakes have won six of their last seven games against the Dodgers.
