Fent stricken from lawsuits
Attorney Jerry Fent, who filed to give his support in two lawsuits against the state, has been stricken from the case.
Fent filed an entry of appearance and statement of support in cases that challenge revenue measures and new taxes, but the Oklahoma Supreme Court wanted to know why he should be involved.
A few days later, his filing had been stricken.
The lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of cigarette manufacturers against a $1.50-per-pack fee, has drawn attention from across the country. The National Association of Manufacturers, Oklahoma State Medical Association, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the McLane Company, a Texas distributor, will be allowed to file briefs.
