What to ex­pect

The be­at­i­fi­ca­tion cer­e­mony for the Rev. Stan­ley Rother has been an­tic­i­pated for months.

A spe­cial com­mit­tee, in­clud­ing Diane Clay, com­mu­ni­ca­tions di­rec­tor for the Ro­man Catholic Arch­dio­cese of Ok­la­homa, has been plan­ning the event for sev­eral months.

The cer­e­mony is ex­pected to draw thou­sands of the Catholic faith­ful as well as in­di­vid­u­als from other Chris­tian de­nom­i­na­tions and faith com­mu­ni­ties.

Clay said guests may ex­pect the fol­low­ing:

•The cer­e­mony will run about two hours in length.

•The event will be in the con­text of a Mass, in­clud­ing the Holy Eucharist (Com­mu­nion).

•The Arch­dio­cese of Ok­la­homa City will dis­trib­ute com­mem­o­ra­tive coins and a spe­cial edi­tion of the arch­dio­cese’s of­fi­cial news­pa­per, The Sooner Catholic, to each guest.

•Seat­ing is first come, first serve.

•A pro­gram will be pro­vided so that vis­i­tors may eas­ily fol­low the cer­e­mony.

•There will be se­cu­rity at each en­trance of the arena. Bags will be searched as peo­ple en­ter. No back­packs will be al­lowed. No out­side food or drink will be al­lowed in the arena. Water will be avail­able in the con­ven­tion cen­ter.
