What to expect
The beatification ceremony for the Rev. Stanley Rother has been anticipated for months.
A special committee, including Diane Clay, communications director for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma, has been planning the event for several months.
The ceremony is expected to draw thousands of the Catholic faithful as well as individuals from other Christian denominations and faith communities.
Clay said guests may expect the following:
•The ceremony will run about two hours in length.
•The event will be in the context of a Mass, including the Holy Eucharist (Communion).
•The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City will distribute commemorative coins and a special edition of the archdiocese’s official newspaper, The Sooner Catholic, to each guest.
•Seating is first come, first serve.
•A program will be provided so that visitors may easily follow the ceremony.
•There will be security at each entrance of the arena. Bags will be searched as people enter. No backpacks will be allowed. No outside food or drink will be allowed in the arena. Water will be available in the convention center.
