Oklahoma fifth- and eighthgrade teachers can apply for a fellowship to attend the 2018 Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute in the restored capital city of 18thcentury Virginia. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 1. The session for fifth-grade teachers will be June 3-8. The program was expanded last year to offer fellowships for eighth-grade social studies teachers. Their session will be June 10-15. The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence coordinates the selection of Oklahoma teachers to participate in the renowned teacher institute. While at Colonial Williamsburg — the world’s largest living history museum — teachers will be immersed in early American history through hands-on activities and re-enactments of historic events. Participants also will meet daily with a peer facilitator to discuss interactive teaching techniques and develop creative lesson plans based on their experiences.
