OU Libraries chooses associate dean for special collections
NORMAN — Bridget Burke will join the University of Oklahoma Libraries as associate dean for special collections starting Jan. 15. Burke will be responsible for the leadership and strategic vision for OU Libraries’ seven distinct special collections.
Rick Luce, dean of OU Libraries, said Burke’s qualifications and experience as a special collections expert and manager are a rare combination. Burke recently visited OU Libraries’ Western History Collections as a member of a team of western American history materials experts to assess and recommend best practices for preservation and acquisition of new materials.
She is the director of the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming and formerly was the dean of libraries at North Dakota State University. She also worked at the National Museum of American History Library at the Smithsonian Institution and at the New York Public Library.
