Education: University of Central Oklahoma, bachelor’s in political science with a double minor in management and marketing; LaSalle University, doctorate in finance; Oklahoma State University, associate’s in construction with a building inspections emphasis.
Military service: U.S. Army, 196670; Russian linguist, Fourth Infantry Division, K Co., 75th Airborne Rangers, two tours in Vietnam.
Significant other: Suzanne Broadbent, a retired attorney and partner of eight years. He asked her out by passing her a note in church.
Children: One daughter who lives outside Williamsburg, Virginia, and three sons (two live in Houston, and his son Cord, 38, works with him in Oklahoma City). He has five grandchildren, ages 10 and under; a sixth is due this month.
Pets: A beagle-basset mix, Chihuahua and cocker spaniel.
Neighborhood: Putnam Heights Historic District.
Church: First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City.
Community involvement: Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy, Class of 2015; South Oklahoma City Rotary, past president and Paul Harris Fellow; Oklahoma City Housing Authority, former commissioner; and South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, past president.
Pastimes: Jogging with colleagues (about 3 miles, three times a week) and traveling with family (favorite vacation spots include Wimberley in the Texas Hill Country; Santa Fe; Kansas City on the Plaza; and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Next up: St. Augustine on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida.
