OSU hits 7 homers to top Bay­lor 11-6

WACO, TEXAS — Ok­la­homa State hit seven home runs as it beat Bay­lor 11-6 to even the se­ries Sat­ur­day at Bay­lor Ball­park.

Trevor Boone tied an OSU pro­gram record with three homers and fin­ished 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI. Colin Simp­son added two home runs, while Matt Kroon and Michael Neustifter also home­red.

OSU’s power surge helped Car­son Teel record an­other win on the mound as the left-han­der im­proved to 7-2 with a five-in­ning ef­fort against the Bears (29-18, 10-10).

With the vic­tory, OSU (29-18-1, 16-4) snapped Bay­lor’s 13-game win­ning streak. The Cow­boys’ seven home runs were their most in a game since they had eight against Kansas in 2006.

The two teams re­turn to ac­tion for Sun­day’s rub­ber game at 1:05 p.m.

Mur­ray leads Soon­ers past Knights

OR­LANDO, FLA. — Kyler Mur­ray fin­ished 2-for-5 at the plate with a home run, one dou­ble and four RBI as Ok­la­homa de­feated UCF 7-3 to even the se­ries Sat­ur­day at John Eu­liano Park.

Right-han­der Devon Perez pitched two shutout in­nings in re­lief to earn the win against the Knights (33-18). Perez (5-3) al­lowed two hits and struck out two in his sec­ond ap­pear­ance out of the bullpen in the se­ries.

The se­ries fi­nale is set for a 10 a.m. start on Sun­day.

•In Fri­day night’s game, UCF scored two runs in the bot­tom of the 14th in­ning to rally past OU 5-4.

OU start­ing pitcher Jake Irvin al­lowed three runs on eight hits and earned a node­ci­sion. Dy­lan Grove (2-2) took the loss af­ter al­low­ing one run in 1 ⅓ in­nings.
