OSU hits 7 homers to top Baylor 11-6
WACO, TEXAS — Oklahoma State hit seven home runs as it beat Baylor 11-6 to even the series Saturday at Baylor Ballpark.
Trevor Boone tied an OSU program record with three homers and finished 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI. Colin Simpson added two home runs, while Matt Kroon and Michael Neustifter also homered.
OSU’s power surge helped Carson Teel record another win on the mound as the left-hander improved to 7-2 with a five-inning effort against the Bears (29-18, 10-10).
With the victory, OSU (29-18-1, 16-4) snapped Baylor’s 13-game winning streak. The Cowboys’ seven home runs were their most in a game since they had eight against Kansas in 2006.
The two teams return to action for Sunday’s rubber game at 1:05 p.m.
Murray leads Sooners past Knights
ORLANDO, FLA. — Kyler Murray finished 2-for-5 at the plate with a home run, one double and four RBI as Oklahoma defeated UCF 7-3 to even the series Saturday at John Euliano Park.
Right-hander Devon Perez pitched two shutout innings in relief to earn the win against the Knights (33-18). Perez (5-3) allowed two hits and struck out two in his second appearance out of the bullpen in the series.
The series finale is set for a 10 a.m. start on Sunday.
•In Friday night’s game, UCF scored two runs in the bottom of the 14th inning to rally past OU 5-4.
OU starting pitcher Jake Irvin allowed three runs on eight hits and earned a nodecision. Dylan Grove (2-2) took the loss after allowing one run in 1 ⅓ innings.
