Sui­cide preven­tion topic of OKDHS lec­ture

To highlight Ok­la­homa’s na­tional rank of eighth in sui­cide rates, the Ok­la­homa Depart­ment of Hu­man Ser­vices will present sui­cide preven­tion ex­perts Robin Hud­son Le­Blanc and Melissa Reese Casey.

The talk on July 26 will be a part of the OKDHS Prac­tice and Pol­icy Lec­ture Se­ries. It will be at 1 p.m. at the Ok­la­homa His­tory Cen­ter. Both speak­ers will dis­cuss the warn­ing signs and risk fac­tors of sui­cide, preven­tion, and more.

Le­Blanc is the first sui­cide sur­vivor to chair the Ok­la­homa Sui­cide Preven­tion Coun­cil. Casey is a sui­cide sur­vivor trained in ev­i­dence-based sui­cide preven­tion and aware­ness and is a strong ad­vo­cate of sui­cide preven­tion and postven­tion ed­u­ca­tion.
