Major County sheriff arrested in assault

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

FAIRVIEW — Major County Sheriff Steven Randolph was arrested Monday, accused of assaulting his daughter's boyfriend last year.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Randolph, 44, on complaints of assault and battery, malicious injury to property and reckless conduct with a firearm, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Randolph has not been charged.

In an incident last May, Randolph reportedly pulled his sheriff's department vehicle in front of Carlos Aguilar's pickup, got out, reached through the open window of the pickup, grabbed Aguilar's clothing near the neck and threatened to kill him. After letting Aguilar go, Randolph reportedly fired a gun toward the road, according to an OSBI news release.

Randolph was arrested at the Blaine County sheriff’s office and booked into the county jail.

Randolph was not available by phone Monday. A Major County employee said Randolph was released on bail Monday, and is still currently the actingsheriff.
