Substitute teacher arrested
A Midwest City-Del City School District substitute teacher was arrested Thursday, accused of soliciting sex from a minor and showing obscene materials to a minor.
Del City police said they were notified on Thursday that Darris Turner, 33, reportedly solicited sex from a student at Del City High School.
Investigators met with a 17-year-old girl about the allegations. She identified Turner as “Mr. T.” Another student, a 16-year-old girl, also reported allegations against Turner, according to a news release.
Police said Turner used the same approach on both juveniles and think there might be other victims. Turner has worked as a substitute teacher at elementary, middle and high schools in the school district for several years.
School district officials said Turner is no longer employed with the district and that he passed all state background check requirements when he was hired in February.
Police said Turner is being held at the Del City jail pending further investigation into the allegations.
Anyone with information about any incidents involving Turner should call the Del City Police Department at 677-2443.
