Utica woman charged for smoking pot
SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. » A Utica woman is facing charges after being caught smoking marijuana at Sylvan Beach.
State police in Sylvan Beach arrested Shanell A. Sherman, 19, of Utica, charging her with fifthdegree marijuana possession, a class B misde- meanor.
On Thursday, June 22, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to the public beach area in the vicinity of 600 Park Ave in the Village of Sylvan Beach regarding a woman smoking marihuana on the beach.
Upon arrival, Troopers located a woman on the beach matching the description given and questioned her about the reported incident. The woman, identified as Sherman, admitted to troopers she had been smoking marijuana on the beach.
Sherman was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Sylvan Beach court.
