Bears flatten Firebirds in opener
CHITTENANGO, N.Y. » The Chittenango boys soccer team didn’t need long to score its first goal of the 2017 season, striking in the 7th minute of its opener against Phoenix on Tuesday.
Goals 2-11 weren’t too far behind.
The Bears’ offense dominated the first half to the tune of 10 goals, rolling to an 11-1 victory and into the championship of its More than a Game Tournament.
“Our possession of the ball and being able to knock the ball,” said Chittenango coach Brian Thomas of what impressed him the most. “A couple of our young players stepping up. We’ve got three sophomores that are starting and a couple of our seniors really stepped up. I know this is one they wanted to get off on the right note so, good start for us.”
