Ronald A. Fritz of Sylvan Beach
SYLVAN BEACH » Ronald A. Fritz passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017. “Fritz,” as he was known to family and friends, was born in Oneida, N.Y. on Jan. 10, 1925. He attended Oneida High School. In high school, he was called “Rocket Ronnie” for his speed and dexterity on the football field.
Fritz served in WWII in the Coast Guard aboard the Manitauk. The Manitauk patrolled the North Atlantic. After the war, Fritz worked for Oneida Limited and retired as a foreman. After retiring, Fritz and his second wife Mary opened Fritz’s Lakeview, a restaurant and tavern. Fritz and Mary ran the Lakeview from 1977 to 1990, when they retired together. In 1991, they decided to open Mary’s Place, which they ran together until 2007 when they decided to retire for good.
Fritz is survived by his daughter, Diane (Tom) Liebst, his son, Gary (Sarah) Fritz, and two grandchildren.
At Fritz’s request, there will be no services.
