Holiday Bazaar and Cookie Walk
VERONA » Verona Presbyterian Church will hold a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring new and almost new holiday decorations and gifts, plus many local crafters. The church will also have its annual Cookie Walk featuring several varieties made by ladies of the church. Lunch will be available offering homemade soup and chili.
Upcoming events at Augusta Church
ORISKANY FALLS » Augusta Presbyterian Church, 2345 Route 26, will have a Hanging of the Greens service on Saturday, Dec. 2 beginning at 6 p.m. with a potluck supper followed by the decoration of the sanctuary. The service will include readings of the Christmas story and the singing of carols.
On Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., Dr. Jay G. Williams of Hamilton College will give a presentation on Thomas Nast and his Christmas prints, especially his depiction of Santa Claus. Participants are encouraged to bring Christmas cookies to share with others in attendance. The event is free and open to the public.
The church will host a Christmas concert with national recording artist Sherry Anne on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend. A love offering will be accepted.
Mid-week Advent services continue
CANASTOTA » Grace Lutheran Church will hold Mid-week Advent Services on Wednesdays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20 at 7 p.m. at the church, 3965 Carter Road. Holiday Cookie Sale set for Dec. 9
ONEIDA » Silver Star Chap- ter No. 21, Order of Eastern Star will hold a Holiday Cookie Sale on Saturday, Dec. 9 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Masonic Building, 611 Stone St. Cookies and candy will be selling for $8 per pound. Christmas items will also be available.
Christian artist Sherry Anne will perform Dec. 15
CLARK MILLS » Clark Mills United Methodist Church, 30 Clinton St., will host a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 to benefit International Christian Centers for the Deaf. A free will offering will be collected to benefit the organization helping impoverished deaf children in the Bahamas, Cuba and Mexico; donations are tax-deductible. The Sounds of Hope Christmas concert will feature national recording artist Sherry Anne, who was born with a bilateral hearing and speech impairment, yet sings with an elegant voice that blends a passion for Southern Gos- pel-style, country, and blues music with her deep faith.
Earlier this year, Sherry Anne shared the mission of the International Christian Centers for the Deaf in a promotional video, available for viewing at www. sherryanne.com.
Breakfast with Santa served Dec. 16
ONEIDA » The Fidelity Assembly No. 30 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls will host a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 8-11 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge at 611 Stone St. Proceeds from this event will help to pay for Grand Assembly 2019. Menu includes pancakes (chocolate or cinnamon chip, plain and gluten free) scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon/sausage, and beverage for $8 adults and $4 for ages 4-12. Children younger than 4 are free. Santa will be on hand for photos. There will also be a bake sale to help the girls raise funds for their various charities and the state scholarship fund.
Annual Prayer Brunch planned for Dec. 9
WAMPSVILLE » The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley welcomes former Disney illustrator Davy Liu to its third Annual Prayer Brunch on Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at New Beginnings Church. 227 Genesee St.
Liu worked for Disney as a young man and illustrated movies including “The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Mulan.” He is a Christian speaker, author, and advocate for youths. He will join Pastor Charles Garrison, from the New Genesis Bible Church in New Orleans as a speaker for the event. The world renowned Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble will perform several spirituals and Christmas songs.
Tickets are $20. All proceeds benefit the YMCA’s Changing Lives Scholarship fund, which helps support those in the community who cannot afford membership or programs at the Y. Food will be provided by Madison Bistro. Those attending are encouraged to bring a canned food item to help benefit local food pantries. Senior ministry offered Wednesdays
VERONA » St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will hold a Christian Ministry for Seniors each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 4897 Old Oneida Road. There will be coffee and conversation, Bible study, and at 10:30 a.m. a special program will be held. There will also be exercise and lunch at noon.
Friendship Inn open each Thursday
MORRISVILLE » Friendship Inn at St. Joan of Arc Church offers a free weekly meal to the Morrisville community every Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. Nondenominational and open to all, regardless of financial need, Friendship Inn draws on a small army of volunteers who fulfill numerous tasks, from set-up, cooking, serving, to cleanup. Volunteers are always needed. Donations are welcome as well to supplement food offerings and to purchase equipment and supplies.
