Members of the V.V.S. FFA were busy tapping trees this past week in anticipation of the upcoming maple season. FFA treasurer Danann Lohr uses a precision tapper to drill a fresh hole into a maple tree as FFA president Jonathan Perry prepares the spout and dropline. The FFA taps more than 2,000trees and processes the maple sap into syrup at the school’s facility. V.V.S. FFA hosts Maple Weekend Open House the last two weekends in March with a pancake breakfast and tours of the sugar bush and maple sap house. All proceeds from the maple operation and breakfast support student activities.
