Cops say woman bilked wel­fare sys­tem

ONEIDA, N.Y. » An Oneida city woman has been charged with wel­fare fraud.

Mar­ion Hoch-Sch­midtka, 27, of 238 W. Elm St., was charged with third-de­gree wel­fare fraud, a class D felony; third-de­gree grand lar­ceny, a class D felony; first­de­gree of­fer­ing a false in­stru­ment for fil­ing, a class E felony; and third-de­gree per­jury, a class Amis­de­meanor.

Po­lice say HochSch­midtka failed to re­port that her chil­dren’s fa­ther was liv­ing with her and also earn­ing an in­come. As a re­sult, she re­ceived $3,854 in pub­lic as­sis­tance that she oth­er­wise would not have re­ceived.

Hoch-Sch­midtka is sched­uled to ap­pear in the town of Lenox Court at a later date.
