Ital­ian din­ner served May 19

CANAS­TOTA » Whitelaw Church, Main Street will hold an Ital­ian din­ner on Satur­day, May 19 from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $10 per din­ner; chil­dren 5 and younger are free. Din­ner in­cludes penne pasta with home­made sauce, sausage or meat­balls, tossed salad, roll with but­ter, dessert and bev­er­age.

VERONA » The Verona United Methodist Church will hold its an­nual spring garage sale, bake sale and lun­cheon on May 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The lunch menu will in­clude hot dogs, sausage, pep­pers and onions, tuna sand­wich, egg salad sand­wich, veg­etable soup, chili, potato salad, mac­a­roni salad, chips, bev­er­ages and desserts. Pro­ceeds will be do­nated to J.D. Ge­orge Ele­men­tary School for books for the stu­dents for sum­mer read­ing.

Pi­ano recital set for May 29

LEECENTER » St. Joseph’s Church in will present in­ter­na­tion­ally renowned clas­si­cal pi­anist Elyane Laus­sade as part of its 65th An­niver­sary Con­cert Se­ries on Tues­day, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. The pro­gram, “An Amer­i­can in Paris,” will fea­ture the mu­sic of Chaminade, Jo­plin, De­bussy, Zez Con­frey, Satie, Co­p­land, Ravel, and Gersh­win’s “Rhap­sody in Blue.” Laus­sade, a grad­u­ate of the Juil­liard School, has per­formed in Aus­tralia, New Zealand, Sin­ga­pore, South Africa, the USA, Tai­wan, and Europe.
