2018 Section III Baseball All-Stars

VVS Senior Andrew Roden named TVL Player of the Year

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill had another strong season on the diamond, going on an 17-1 tear en route to another Tri-Valley Pioneer title.

The Red Devils’ impressive season garnered the attention of TVL coaches, leading to a bounty of all-star hardware. Outgoing senior Andrew Roden took home 2018 Player of the Year honors following his final campaign in Red Devil uniform, showcasing his prowess on the hill and at the plate.

Seven more VVS players joined Roden as all-stars. Davey Moffet, Nate Palmer, and Tyler Rotach brought home first team honors; TJ Horodnick and Blake Van-Dreason earned second team bids; and Zach Nell and AJ Farina were named to the Honorable Mention team.

VVS coach Chad Hodkinson split Coach of the Year honors with Utica Proctor’s Dave Guido.

Oneida, the team responsible for ousting VVS in the sectionals, also had a bevy of talent named to all-star teams. Will Merrell was named the TVL Rookie of the Year following the 2018 season, and teammates Lukas Albro, Henry Froass, and Ryan Chevier were named First Team all-stars. Jorden Barlow earned a second team bid, and Logan McClelland and Vinny Leibl made the Honorable Mention team.

Fellow TVL team Camden

racked up a total of seven all-star team bids.

Canastota put five players on Center State Conference Division I allstar rosters.

Center State Conference Division IV teams Morrisville-Eaton and Hamilton earned five all-star bids a piece, while Center Counties League sides Madison, whose season ended following a run to the Class D Section III championship, and Stockbridge Valley brought home three and two all-stars, respectively.

In the Onondaga High School League, Chittenango had three named to all-star sides, while Cazenovia saw five playerss recognized.
