Sher­rill Truck Event brings kids, big rigs to­gether at CAC

SHER­RILL, N.Y. >> From big rigs and plows to fire en­gines and cop cars, the Fall Truck Event at the Com­mu­nity Ac­tiv­ity Cen­ter in Sher­rill gave lo­cal chil­dren achance to see the mall up­close.

The CAC was filled with ve­hi­cles Mon­day from both the city and lo­cal busi­nesses. Around 100 peo­ple were in at­ten­dance. Food and drinks were sold by r1ck’s Roam­ing BBQ, The Cre­me­ria and Utica Cof­fee. Chil­dren look­ing to burn off some ex­cess en­ergy could do so in the bounce house and slide, pro­vided by the city.

The event at­tracts more than just peo­ple from the Sher­rill neigh­bor­hood. Kim John­son, of Clin­ton, was there with her two-year-old daugh­ter El­lie and joined by El­lie’s grand­mother, Deb Warner of Ver­non.

“It’s our first time here. El­lie just loves trucks and trac­tors,” John­son said. All day, she helped El­lie climb into mul­ti­ple ve­hi­cles, from back­hoes to bob­cats and even a trac­tor trailer.

“Be­ing on a hol­i­day makes this even bet­ter be­cause a lot of peo­ple have the day off to­day,” Warner said. “I think this kind
