Ar­chives Day cel­e­brates WWI

WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. >> On Tues­day, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Madi­son County Of­fice Build­ing (DMV Build­ing) will once again host Madi­son County Ar­chives Day.

This year’s theme will cel­e­brate Madi­son County’s role dur­ing World War I. Dis­plays from the Madi­son County His­to­rian and Madi­son County Clerk’s Of­fice will in­clude the story of Theodore J. Mero, a sol­dier from north­ern New York who set­tled in Madi­son County fol­low­ing the war, and the Madi­son County Clerk’s war book which tracked men who were drafted or en­listed from Madi­son County. Spe­cial dis­plays from the Madi­son County His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, Oneida Com­mu­nity Man­sion House and the Hamil­ton His­toric Com­mis­sion fea­tur­ing war time posters, mil­i­tary para­pher­na­lia and more will be on hand.
