Archives Day celebrates WWI
WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. >> On Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Madison County Office Building (DMV Building) will once again host Madison County Archives Day.
This year’s theme will celebrate Madison County’s role during World War I. Displays from the Madison County Historian and Madison County Clerk’s Office will include the story of Theodore J. Mero, a soldier from northern New York who settled in Madison County following the war, and the Madison County Clerk’s war book which tracked men who were drafted or enlisted from Madison County. Special displays from the Madison County Historical Society, Oneida Community Mansion House and the Hamilton Historic Commission featuring war time posters, military paraphernalia and more will be on hand.
