S.U. or­gan­ist to per­form

Or­gan­ist Anne Laver, DMA, cur­rently serv­ing as univer­sity or­gan­ist and as­sis­tant pro­fes­sor in the Set­nor School of Mu­sic, Syra­cuse Univer­sity, will present a recital at First Bap­tist Church, 27Broad St., Oct. 21.

HAMIL­TON, N.Y. >> Or­gan­ist Anne Laver, DMA, cur­rently serv­ing as univer­sity or­gan­ist and as­sis­tant pro­fes­sor in the Set­nor School of Mu­sic, Syra­cuse Univer­sity, will present a recital at First Bap­tist Church, 27 Broad St., Hamil­ton, on Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

Laver, who has per­formed ex­ten­sively both here and abroad, has never failed to pro­vide a rich, mem­o­rable mu­si­cal ex­pe­ri­ence for her au­di­ence. Af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Brown Univer­sity, she earned mas­ters and doc­toral de­grees from the East­man School of Mu­sic in Rochester, study­ing un­der sev­eral highly re­puted or­gan­ists/per­form­ers. An ac­tive ad­vo­cate for the or­gan and greatly in­ter­ested in en­cour­ag­ing young or­gan­ists, she has di­rected sev­eral rel­e­vant youth pro­grams. Much of her time is de­voted to the Amer­i­can Guide of Or­gan­ists and other pro­fes­sional as­so­ci­a­tions. She gave a recital last sum­mer at the na­tional con­ven­tion of the Or­gan His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety in Rochester.

At First Bap­tist, she will play the 39 rank orig­i­nal Estey or­gan in­stalled in 1905 and re­built al­most a cen­tury later by the es­teemed Kerner & Mer­chant Pipe Or­gan Builders firm of Syra­cuse. Con­sid­er­able ex­pan­sion and de­vel­op­ment of the or­gan have oc­curred over the last cen­tury.

There is no ad­mis­sion. Quack’s Vil­lage Inn of Madi­son will pro­vide a catered re­cep­tion fol­low­ing the recital.
