A local nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA is celebrating its 100th year of service in Palm Beach County.
The YWCA offers programs that are aimed at improving the lives of women and girls in Palm Beach County. All of these programs help improve economic empowerment, racial justice and civil rights, as well as advocacy, child care and helping teens.
The Harmony House was opened in 1975 as the first domestic violence shelter for women in Palm Beach County. It is able to house 72 women at a time, allowing them to escape a violent situation (with their children), work with a volunteer on securing their finances and prepare for life on their own.
