Helping kids navigate waters to success
reels, build lures, become a certified Red Cross lifeguard and work with our community partners through our on-the-job training component.
Every Riviera Beach resident who attends the program is benefitted by scholarships provided by CRA grants. The program offers water sports instruction, summer camps and deep-sea fishing camps. The curriculum instructs students on proper and safe boating, kayaking, fishing and sailing practices. Students then practice what they learned during weeklong deep-sea summer camps aboard FFA fishing boats or on community event days hosted at the Riviera Beach Marina.
Students of all ages will learn about environmental awareness, water flow and erosion, in addition to problem-solving and life skills, using hands-on activities that emphasize scientific learning. Students will explore a working model of Florida’s watershed to learn about the effects of pollution and beach erosion and how it relates to the marine-life food chain. They will have the opportunity to hold marine life animals in our touch tank, dissect a squid or fish and participate in an oil spill cleanup activity. Students will also brainstorm ideas for conservation activities and pollution control.
