ASPIRA: Inspiring educational excellence in Latino community
What does ASPIRA of Florida do?
ASPIRA of Florida develops the leadership capacity of its youth by engaging them in weekly leadership club meetings guided by a curriculum designed to develop cultural and self-awareness, as well as critical thinking and social skills. This is known as the ASPIRA Process of Leadership Development. ASPIRA of Florida provides youth with a variety of leadership development opportunities facilitated by its staff of young professionals who can relate to the needs of our youth and provide educational services in a culturally competent and youthfocused manner.
How does your organization benefit the community?
Through our programs, we develop better educated, more community conscious and committed youth. With our dedication to the population we serve and our commitment to excellence, ASPIRA of Florida pledges to deliver quality services to our youth in leadership and academic development. We strive each day to make this vision a reality.
What is your agency’s focus for the future?
ASPIRA’s focus for 2018 is to expand our program participation, community involvement, and develop more partnerships to expand ASPIRA’s vision. This year we are also putting an emphasis on growing our Belle Glade program by positively impacting the youth in that area. Through fundraising and continued community support, we will also be able to provide more opportunities for our students. We are also working towards providing more financial assistance in the form of scholarships to our students graduating high school and continuing their education at the college level.
How can the community help?
Through local collaborations and fundraising, our community can help grow the ASPIRA name and expand our organization. In doing so, ASPIRA will be able to continue to reach more students and make a bigger impact on their lives and futures.
The ASPIRA of Florida Palm Beach division offers several programs to educate youth in the Latino community.
