Feeling artsy? Crafternoon @ Cummings, a monthly adult craft session, will turn trash into treasure at the Peter & Julie Cum
mings Library, 2551 SW Matheson Ave., Palm City, at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Upcycle a 2-liter plastic bottle into an indoor planter. Materials are provided.
Another option at the Cummings Library: Join an informal group, Creating for a Cause, at 2 p.m. Aug. 16.
Stitch, knit, crochet or make craft items to be donated to local or national programs. Bring your skills — or maybe learn new ones. The library has some supplies and two sewing machines available.
This month, the group will be working with Ryan’s Case for Smiles, making pillowcases for kids at Martin Memorial Hospital. A pillowcase requires one-third yard of fabric for the border and three-quarters of a yard for the main pillow- case. Fabric should be 100 percent cotton (no flannel!) in kid-friendly designs. The library does have some material on hand, but donations are welcome.
