From apps to dessert, Flash­back Diner has it all

MENU

There’s s ome­thing f or every­one here. A wide se­lec­tion of ap­pe­tiz­ers range from hum­mus and pita bread to buf­falo chicken wings. There a re s oups, s a l a ds , s a nd­wiches, burg­ers and seafood. The menu also of­fers break­fast and brunch op­tions with five kinds of eggs bene­dict, omelets and pan­cakes. Kids and dessert menus are also avail­able.

AT­MOS­PHERE

The Boca Ra­ton lo­ca­tion on Satur­day nights can get quite busy, but there are plenty of seat­ing op­tions: booths, ta­bles and out­door ac­com­mo­da­tions in­clud­ing a bar and pa­tio chairs with ta­bles. The lamps are dimmed, but not so much that you won’t be able to read your menu, and the dé­cor is in­ter­est­ing, with signed mem­o­ra­bilia fram­ing the walls and stained glass lamps. There are also small TV screens on each booth.

OUR FA­VORITE FOOD/PRICE

For ap­pe­tiz­ers, we de­cided on the red top hum­mus dip ($8.95), which comes with pita bread and freshly sliced 1450 N. Fed­eral High­way, Boca Ra­ton 561-750-2120. Hours: Open 24 hours daily. They’ll tell you about that item and why they liked it in this spot each week. cu­cum­bers. The por­tion is gen­er­ous enough to share bet ween t wo peo­ple. As our en­trees, we went with the gar­den burger ($9.95), made with car­rot, onion, string beans and soy, served wi t h a s i d e o f s e a s o n e d fries. We also sam­pled the ba­con cheese­burger ($12.95) with a side of sweet potato fries. Al­though there was hardly room for dessert, we couldn’t bring our­selves to pass on the chance to try the choco­late cheese­cake ($7.95), which was rich and creamy enough to make us swoon.

REA­SON TO GO

The burg­ers and fries are suc­cu­lent enough to make us want to go back for more, but there are many other en­tic­ing items on the menu that we would love to try, such as the roasted veg­gie penne pasta and the shep­herd’s pie.

SER­VICE

The server took our or­der promptly, and there was hardly a wait for it to be brought to our table. She was also very knowl­edge­able about the spe­cials and dishes she thought we might like.

NOISE LEVEL

It can get noisy in the even­ing, but we didn’t find it over­whelm­ing. Con­ver­sa­tion was def­i­nitely pos­si­ble, al­though later when the pi­ano player en­ter­tains din­ers, that may change a bit.

KID FRIENDLY

There is an am­ple kid’s menu and choice of seat­ing to please fam­i­lies with chil­dren and younger din­ers.
