19th-century ‘People’s Sculptor’ has unique style
Question: I bought this ceramic sculpture 20 years ago at an auction. On the base, it reads “The Favored Scholar.” On the back is “Patented April 1, 1879.” On the top of the base is printed “John Rogers, New York.” I paid $300.
