Q: Is Hitch, starring Will Smith, out on video? I Googled it and didn’t seem to be able to find it — Anthony Adams, West Palm Beach

A: That’s odd, since the comedy movie — which is shown fairly frequently by TBS and TNT— has been available on DVD for some time (since within a few months of its 2005 theatrical release, in fact). It also was one of the first titles that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released on Blu-ray a year later. When we tried a search for the DVD, about a zillion purchasing options came up immediately. We only can say that you might want to try again.

Q: When is CHAOS coming back? — June Nicholas, Glen Ellyn, Ill.

A: It isn’t. CBS had high hopes for the series, especially in terms of the performance by Freddy Rodriguez as a CIA newcomer. However, it became rather clear after the airings of the first three episodes last April that the ratings just weren’t there, so the network removed the show from the lineup and called Flashpoint (which is now on ION) back into play fast, then played off the remaining stories on Saturday nights. When that happens these days with first-run episodes, that pretty much can be taken as a sign that production on the show is done.

Q: What is the new series that Katharine Mcphee of American Idol fame is going to be in? — Julie Wells, Glen Burnie, Md.

A: It’s Smash, an NBC drama that premieres Feb. 6. Mcphee’s role would seem designed for her talents, since she plays an actress who has the inside track on landing the lead role in a Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroe. She has competition, though — including Uma Thurman, who will have a multiple-episode guest role as a film star who also wants the part.

Q: What happened to Against the Wall? — Rosann Pollock, Deland

A: The police drama Against the Wall was canceled by Lifetime after its one and only season that began this past summer. That outcome wasn’t a big shock, since the cable network had moved it from prime time to late night over the course of its run ... something that doesn’t happen to a series if it’s performing well in the ratings.
