Assistant fifire chief blamed for traffiffic wreck that hurt 2

BOYNTON BEACH — Boynton Beach’s assistant fifire chief, who was recently interim chief, was blamed for a traffific crash Tuesday that sent t wo passengers to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Greg Hoggatt was driving a city-owned 2016 red Chevrolet Tahoe east on Woolbright Road with the lights and sirens activated about 3 p.m.
Garrett Donald was driving a 2017 white Toyota Camry offff Interstate 95 in the right of two left-turn lanes onto Woolbright.
Hoggatt had a red traffiffic light and Donald had a green one, a state crash report says.
Hoggatt didn’t slow down before entering the intersec- tion on the r e d l i g h t , a n d t h e front of the c i t y ’s S UV hit the left side of the Camry as it w a s t u r n - ing. Two passengers in the Camry were taken to a local hospital. Hoggatt was not injured, the report says.
A city spokeswoman did not return a request for comment Friday.
Hoggatt was given a citation for failing to yield while approaching or entering an intersection.
Donald and one of his passengers, Jessica Blanchard, were given citations for not wearing seat belts, the report says.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the crash.
