Fit­ness expo kicks off marathon week­end

The Fit­team Palm Beaches Marathon is back in De­cem­ber with a new course and new events.

The week­end se­ries of events will kick off Fri­day, Dec. 1, with a fit­ness expo from noon to 6 p.m. at Ci­tyPlace. At­ten­dees can ex­pect the lat­est in health and fit­ness prod­ucts and ser­vices, in ad­di­tion to run­ning ap­parel and in­for­ma­tion about the race.

A 5K run is sched­uled for 6:30 p.m., start­ing and fin­ish­ing at Fla­gler Drive and Clema­tis Street. Par­tic­i­pants will have the op­por­tu­nity to ex­er­cise along the In­tra­coastal Wa­ter­way and take a first look at the city’s Sandi Tree.

On Satur­day, Dec. 2, a free con­cert at the Meyer Am­phithe­atre will start at 5 p.m. with en­ter­tain­ment by Sis­ter Hazel. The con­cert, spon­sored by FPL, will honor first re­spon­ders who served the com­mu­nity dur­ing Hur­ri­cane Irma. Fire­works will con­clude the event. The fit­ness expo will con­tinue in Ci­tyPlace from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The marathon and half-marathon are sched­uled for 6 a.m. Sun­day, Dec. 3, be­gin­ning on Fla­gler Drive. The race will in­clude parts of Palm Beach for the first time in the marathon’s his­tory.
