Fitness expo kicks off marathon weekend
The Fitteam Palm Beaches Marathon is back in December with a new course and new events.
The weekend series of events will kick off Friday, Dec. 1, with a fitness expo from noon to 6 p.m. at CityPlace. Attendees can expect the latest in health and fitness products and services, in addition to running apparel and information about the race.
A 5K run is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., starting and finishing at Flagler Drive and Clematis Street. Participants will have the opportunity to exercise along the Intracoastal Waterway and take a first look at the city’s Sandi Tree.
On Saturday, Dec. 2, a free concert at the Meyer Amphitheatre will start at 5 p.m. with entertainment by Sister Hazel. The concert, sponsored by FPL, will honor first responders who served the community during Hurricane Irma. Fireworks will conclude the event. The fitness expo will continue in CityPlace from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The marathon and half-marathon are scheduled for 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, beginning on Flagler Drive. The race will include parts of Palm Beach for the first time in the marathon’s history.
Volunteers are needed for the race. To volunteer, email igrady@ palmbeaches.org.
