Living heritage in Delray Beach
Who’s ready to celebrate? In observation of Black History Month and the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum throws its annual Living Heritage Festival. The event, which pays tribute to the area’s African, Caribbean and Haitian roots, takes over the streets of Delray Beach with food, art, games and live performances. One of the performances will feature Delray youth performing their own written monologues, poems and other scenes, under the guidance of writer-director Darius Daughtry and rapperlyricist Jamal Jones.
Spady Living Heritage Festival: 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, 170 NW Fifth Ave., Delray Beach. Info: 561279-8883 or www.spadymuseum.com
