Fire­fight­ers hold first day camp

LIM­ER­ICK >> Lim­er­ick Fire Com­pany is help­ing to spread knowl­edge about fire fight­ing and safety by open­ing up a camp ex­pe­ri­ence for in­di­vid­u­als with spe­cial needs.

On Satur­day, Oct. 13, Lim­er­ick Fire Com­pany opened its doors to wel­come 32 campers into the sta­tion to learn about fire fight­ing. The Fire­fighter Day Camp for in­di­vid­u­als with spe­cial needs is the first of its kind in the area.

The camp in­cluded ac­tiv­i­ties such as a tour of the fire­house, learn­ing about the fire ap­pa­ra­tus and the gear fire­fight­ers wear, us­ing fire ex­tin­guish­ers and hoses, as well as a smoke de­tec­tor demon­stra­tion.

Lim­er­ick Fire Com­pany held its first ever Fire­fighter Day Camp for in­di­vid­u­als with spe­cial needs on Oct. 13. The camp in­cluded sev­eral ac­tiv­i­ties such as a tour of the fire house, a how-to les­son on us­ing fire equip­ment and more.

Thirty-two campers got a close up look at fire trucks and equip­ment on Oct. 13 dur­ing a day-long fire fight­ing camp for in­di­vid­u­als with spe­cial needs.

Kids got a close up look at fire­fight­ing dur­ing the first ever Fire­fighter Day Camp for in­di­vid­u­als with spe­cial needs. Kids learned about CPR and more dur­ing the day-long camp.
