Lawrence Paul Schecter, age 85, of Ben­salem, Pa., passed away peace­fully on March 4, 2017. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Harry and Beatrice (Or­chowsky); his first wife of 33 years, Shirley Schecter (Spiers) and his step­son Ed­ward DeGuiseppe. He is sur­vived by his daugh­ters, Saun­dra Bethel (Ray), Gail Long (Michael), and Lisa Shreve (Bo); brother, Barry Shecter (Robin); and his sec­ond wife, Joan Stern; grand­chil­dren, An­drew and Michelle Long, Rachel and Corey Owens, and Re­becca Flores; and great­grand­chil­dren, Ni­cholas and Lilyanna Gon­za­les; and step­son, Terry DeGuiseppe.

Larry was raised in New York City, NY, and be­gan vis­it­ing Stony Creek, Va., in 1951 with a fel­low ma­rine. Larry served in the Ma­rine Corps for 22 years and did 2 tours in Viet­nam. He re­tired from the Ma­rine Corps and served with the Bucks County Sher­iff’s de­part­ment for 23 years. Larry loved to ride his Gold Wing mo­tor­cy­cle and was a mem­ber of the Blue Knights. He was buried at Wash­ing­ton’s Cross­ing Na­tional Cemetary with full mil­i­tary hon­ors.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held on May 20th at 2 p.m. at Con­cord United Methodist Church, 18591 Con­cord Sap­pony Road, Stony Creek, Va., a place that Larry al­ways loved.
