Athlete of the Week poll returns
Second annual run will feature an athlete of the year poll at the end
The Progress-Index for the second year will feature its weekly FOOTBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK poll, which returns this Sunday, Aug. 27 in the print edition and on Saturday, Aug. 26 online!
As with last year, the poll, which will be made available online at www. progress-index.com, will feature up to five candidates with their listed stats, and the fan vote will decide the FOOTBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK from those candidates.
Last year’s eight schools will again be featured: L.C. Bird, Colonial Heights, Thomas Dale, Dinwiddie, Hopewell, Matoaca, Petersburg and Prince George.
Each school, if represented, will never have more than one candidate available on the weekly poll, although there are no limits as to how often a school or an athlete can be listed as a candidate through the 11 regular season weeks.
This year, a FOOTBALL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR poll will follow the end of the regular season and will open and close after all eight teams’ seasons, including potential playoff and championship games, come to a conclusion.
Candidates for FOOTBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK will be made available on www.progress-index.com each Saturday and in Sunday’s print edition following game day on Friday evening.
To vote, visit www. progress-index.com or see the link through either the Twitter page of @ NickVanDelPI or through the Facebook site of The Progress-Index.
Voting will end Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Suggestions for future nominees may be emailed preferably Friday night and Saturday morning to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The winner of Football Athlete of the Week will be featured in Wednesday’s edition of The Progress-Index.
