Woman killed in Dinwiddie car crash

DINWIDDIE — A two ve­hi­cle crash in Dinwiddie on Thurs­day af­ter­noon claimed the life of Jes­sica L. Fouts, 18, of Ford, Va. Au­thor­i­ties say she was not wear­ing a seat­belt. The crash that oc­curred on the 12000 block of White Oak Road around 5:20 p.m.

Fouts was driv­ing a 2005 Chevro­let Cav­a­lier trav­el­ing north on White Oak Road when it crossed into the south­bound lane and struck a south­bound 2017 Hyundai. The im­pact of the crash caused both ve­hi­cles to spin off the road in op­po­site di­rec­tions. Fouts died at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, 25-year-old fe­male of Ford, Va., was trans­ported to Southside Re­gional Hospi­tal for treat­ment of se­ri­ous, but non-life threat­en­ing, in­juries. She was wear­ing a seat­belt.

In a state­ment, Vir­ginia State Po­lice Trooper J.R. Thomp­son noted that the crash is still un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
