CHESTER — On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., join Henricus Historical Park for the park’s signature annual celebration of the 1611 founding of the Citie of Henricus, presented by The Society of Colonial Wars in Virginia and Community Idea Stations. The 17th-century ship replica, Godspeed from Jamestown Settlement, will be at the Henricus dock for free tours. Watch 400 years of history come to life with living history re-enactments, military drills and musket firings, craftsmen and blacksmiths, 17th-century medicinal demonstrations, Virginia Indian activities, historical children’s games and crafts, storytelling, and more. Admission and parking for Publick Days is free.
On Sept. 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., school and adult groups can participate in a specialized guided tour through the Citie of Henricus and Powhatan community of Arrohateck, concluding onboard the Godspeed. The tour day runs for 2.5 hours and preregistration is required. Individual walk in attendance is welcome from 1 pm – 2 pm.
