CH­ESTER — On Satur­day and Sunday, Sept. 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., join Hen­ri­cus His­tor­i­cal Park for the park’s sig­na­ture an­nual cel­e­bra­tion of the 1611 found­ing of the Ci­tie of Hen­ri­cus, pre­sented by The So­ci­ety of Colo­nial Wars in Vir­ginia and Com­mu­nity Idea Sta­tions. The 17th-cen­tury ship replica, God­speed from Jamestown Set­tle­ment, will be at the Hen­ri­cus dock for free tours. Watch 400 years of his­tory come to life with liv­ing his­tory re-en­act­ments, mil­i­tary drills and mus­ket fir­ings, crafts­men and black­smiths, 17th-cen­tury medic­i­nal demon­stra­tions, Vir­ginia Indian activities, his­tor­i­cal chil­dren’s games and crafts, sto­ry­telling, and more. Ad­mis­sion and park­ing for Publick Days is free.

On Sept. 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., school and adult groups can par­tic­i­pate in a spe­cial­ized guided tour through the Ci­tie of Hen­ri­cus and Powhatan com­mu­nity of Ar­ro­hateck, con­clud­ing on­board the God­speed. The tour day runs for 2.5 hours and pr­ereg­is­tra­tion is re­quired. In­di­vid­ual walk in attendance is wel­come from 1 pm – 2 pm.
