He was affectionately known as “Lee” to all his family and friends. Lee had a heart of gold and was loved and respected by all. He was born in Sussex County to the late Raymond “Jack” Patterson and Nell N. Patterson. He received his education from Sussex County Public Schools.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack, paternal grandmother, Corean Patterson, maternal grandparents, Nat and Gracie Gay, and a niece, Shaniqua “Denay” Patterson.

At an early age, Lee accepted Christ and joined First Baptist Church in Wakefield. Over the years he fellowshipped at Christian Outreach, his love of praising God through songs led him to join Pocahontas Temple Baptist Church, where he sang with the male chorus and Mars Hill A.M.E. Zion. Because of his love for his home church Lee’s journey brought him back to First Baptist in July of this year.

His last place of work was at Wakefield Great Value until his health declined. He was a very hard and dedicated worker who loved his job.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother who knew him first, Nell N. Patterson; five sisters, Elizabeth Judkins (James), Peggy Purdie, Kathy Patterson, all of Wakefield, VA, Janet Patterson and Valarie Patterson-Ricks, both of Waverly, VA; two brothers, Kelvin Patterson (Lisa) and Allen Tonkins, both of Wakefield, VA; his life companion, Shirley Turner of Wakefield, VA; and a godsister, Myesha Britton of Waverly, VA; one uncle; seven aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He loved to sing God’s praises and knew no stranger. His love for people was shown everywhere he went. His love for his nieces and nephews went above and beyond and they all enjoyed the company of their Uncle Lee. He will truly be missed by many.
