Orchestra to host annual international food tasting
PETERSBURG —The Women’s Committee for the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra will host its tenth international food tasting and silent auction this month.
This year’s event will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church’s Community Life Center, 444 Halifax Street in Petersburg on October 28, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The community is invited to come out to taste wines, sample a wide selection of food contributed by many local restaurants and caterers, silently bid on unique items and hear the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra Ensemble.
The success of this event will enable the WCPSO to give scholarships to high school and college students and give a substantial contribution to the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra enabling them to continue to bring classical music to Southside Virginia.
The Women’s Committee for The Petersburg Symphony Orchestra would like to congratulate last year’s recipient of the Lillian Edwards Scholarship, Devin Nelson-Hence.
The $1000 scholarship was awarded to her by Kenneth Lewis, President of the board of directors for the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and Janice Mann, Chairman of the Scholarship committee for the WCPSO at the spring concert of the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.
The WCPSO would like to thank all vendors who participated in last year’s international food tasting event.
The cost for this event is $30 per ticket and may be purchased from any member of the women’s committee. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
