Marianne Alyce “Mickey” McCar­ron Pittman of Prince Ge­orge, Vir­ginia, passed peace­fully in her sleep on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 29, 2017, af­ter a brief ill­ness. Born April 19, 1942, in Chicago, Illi­nois, Mickey grad­u­ated from Prince Ge­orge High School and worked at Fort Lee for 34 years be­fore re­tir­ing. An avid bowler and de­voted mother, Mickey was al­ways a vol­un­teer serv­ing on PTA boards, ath­letic com­mit­tees, and fundrais­ing ef­forts. Postre­tire­ment she filled roles on com­mu­nity and as­so­ci­a­tion boards, in­clud­ing the role of Pres­i­dent of the Home Own­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion of Bea­con Square in Le­high Acres, Florida, and she was an Aerie’s Mem­ber of the Le­high Acres, Florida Ea­gles Club and an ac­tive mem­ber of the Hopewell, Vir­ginia Moose Lodge. Her smile and laugh, her love of so­cial­iz­ing with all, trav­el­ing to spend time with friends and fam­ily, host­ing fam­ily hol­i­days, bak­ing the best lasagna, and winning chili cook-offs will be missed by all who knew her.

Pre­ceded in death by her par­ents James “Mac” and Amelia “Mil­lie” McCar­ron and her brother James “Jim” McCar­ron, Mickey is sur­vived by her de­voted hus­band Jim­mie Lee Pittman, daugh­ters Alyce Anne Han­non and Kath­leen Mary O’Car­roll, sons Joseph O’Car­roll and John O’Car­roll, grand­chil­dren Amelia Anne Phillips, Trey Phillips, Priscilla Leann Jean, Hai­ley El­iz­a­beth Han­non, Kather­ine Alyce “Katie” Han­non, Joseph Thomas “Joey” O’Car­roll, Ad­di­son Jack “AJ” O’Car­roll, and John Ma­son O’Car­roll, sis­ter-in-law Alice Faye McCar­ron and neph­ews Michael McCar­ron and Sean McCar­ron.

Per Mickey’s wishes, the Cre­ma­tion So­ci­ety of Vir­ginia is tak­ing care of fi­nal ar­range­ments. In lieu of flow­ers, please make a do­na­tion to the char­ity of your choice in Mickey’s honor.

The fam­ily is plan­ning a cel­e­bra­tion of life to be held later in Novem­ber.
